"No man but a blockhead ever wrote except for money." Samuel Johnson
|
I write for money.
I also think for money.
These go hand-in-hand, because good writing is a function of good thinking.
But the thoughts I think, and the words I write as a result, are not mine, they're yours.
My job is is to put words to work for you. That means I write words that do something:
Change a perception • Solve a problem • Sell a product • Create a desire • Reveal a need • Inform a mind • Inspire a thought • Instill an idea • Open a door • Expand a horizon • Move a heart • Engage a commitment • Generate a response • Modify a behavior • Build a relationship • Tell a story • Motivate a team • Share a vision
What I do is figure out the best words, arranged in the best order, written to the best reader, to do the best job of doing what you want done.
But we are a visual species. As important as words are, images are the other half of the communications equation. I work with both. I can paint a picture with words, or I can deliver a message using no words at all. It depends on what you need to do and what's the best way to do it.
Easy, right?
